ST19 and other Edison bulb shapes

An ST19 is 19 eighths of an inch, or 2-3/8", across, the same width as an A19 but taller. Feit and GE sell it as an Edison-style bulb. The ST19s listed here from both makers have the standard E26 base.

The filament shapes by code

Edison or vintage is a style, not a size. Feit sells its Edison bulbs in ST19 and ST21 shapes, and filament bulbs also come as T tubes and G globes. The number is the width in eighths of an inch.

ST19 or A19?

Both are 2-3/8" across by the code. The ST19 is the taller one: GE’s Relax HD ST19 is 5.51" long, against 4.33" for its 60 watt replacement A19. In a shade, a cage or a small pendant, check there’s room for the extra inch or so.

What to check on the box

Where they’re used

Feit describes its Edison bulbs for exposed pendants, open shelving and anywhere the bulb is meant to be seen, and its 60ST19 for lanterns. It tags its short T10 for pendants. Which look you want is your choice. For G25 globes over a bathroom mirror, see vanity light bulbs.

Turn the light off and let the bulb cool before you take it out of a pendant or cage.

Common questions

Are Edison bulbs always ST19s?

No. Edison and vintage name a look, and Westinghouse's filament LEDs include A19s and G25s as well. Match the code on the old bulb.

Do vintage-style bulbs come on the small candelabra base?

Some candle shapes do, such as GE's Vintage Style CA11 in amber glass. Match the old bulb's base.
