What Bulb For

What bulb does a wax warmer take?

Use a bulb with the watts on your warmer’s label, and the same base and shape as the old one. Scentsy lists the watts on each of its warmers and sells 10, 15, 20 and 25 watt bulbs to match.

The watts on the label

Scentsy warmers melt the wax with the heat of a low-watt bulb or a heating element. Scentsy’s 2013 FAQ sheet says each warmer lists its bulb wattage on the silver label at its base, and that a higher-wattage bulb voids the warranty.

Scentsy’s product pages give a warmer’s watts as well, such as 25 W for its Harry Potter warmer. Its bulbs are sold by watts, each for the Scentsy warmers that call for that number.

Other warmers

For another brand, read the watts on the warmer’s label or in its instructions. Feit Electric’s wax warmer bulbs, a 15 watt and a 20 watt, both have the small E12 candelabra base.

Both are incandescent and sold in 2-packs.

Feit says the E12 base of its 15 watt bulb fits most standard candle wax warmers. The two shapes differ in width, so match the old bulb’s shape to be sure the new one fits under the dish.

Unplug the warmer and let the bulb and the dish cool before you change the bulb.

Common questions

What bulb does a Scentsy plug-in warmer take?

It depends on the base: Scentsy makes its wall plug bases for mini warmers in a 10 W and a 15 W version. Read the watts on the one you have.

Can I use an LED bulb in a wax warmer?

Scentsy's warmers melt the wax with a low-watt bulb's heat or with a heating element, and Feit's warmer bulbs are incandescent. Match the watts on the label.
