An A15 is the standard bulb shape in a smaller size, 1-7/8" (15/8) across, against an A19’s 2-3/8". It comes on three screw bases, the standard E26, the candelabra E12 and the intermediate E17, so match the old bulb’s base.
How big it is
The code gives only the width, half an inch less than an A19. For length, Feit’s A15 listings run 3.2 to 3.8 inches, GE’s A15 LEDs 3.46 to 3.74 inches, and Westinghouse’s incandescent A15s are 3.38 inches long.
Where it’s used
- Ceiling fan light kits. GE makes A15 ceiling fan LEDs on medium, candelabra and intermediate bases, and Feit tags A15 LEDs on all three bases for ceiling fans. More on ceiling fan bulbs.
- Refrigerators and appliances. GE’s A15 refrigerator LED has a medium base. Feit describes its BPA1540W950CAFILHDRP as made for refrigerators and appliances with E26 sockets. See fridge and microwave bulbs.
- Ovens. Use the bulb the oven’s maker names: oven light bulbs.

Westinghouse’s catalog lists incandescent A15 appliance lamps on the medium base and A15 fan lamps on the candelabra base. Watts are what each bulb uses; compare them with the fixture’s or appliance’s limit.
What it’s confused with
- A19. The same shape, half an inch wider. It may not fit a fan kit’s glass or an appliance’s cover made for an A15.
- E26, E12 and E17. These are bases, not sizes. An A15 can have any of the three, so check the base code on the old bulb or its box: see base types.
- Other appliance shapes. Some appliance bulbs aren’t A15s at all: GE’s microwave LEDs are T8 and S11 shapes on the E17 base.
Switch the fan light off, or unplug the appliance, and let the old bulb cool before you change it.
